Useful lengths to know

  • SEO title: around 50 to 60 characters. Check it with the SERP preview tool.
  • Meta description: around 150 to 160 characters.
  • Facebook and Instagram captions: long ones are cut off behind "more", so put the point in the first line.
  • Blog posts and service pages: there's no ideal length. Write what the topic needs, and stop.

Does word count affect SEO?

Google has said word count isn't a ranking factor. Longer pages often rank well because they cover a topic properly, not because of their length, so adding filler doesn't help. To see which words you use most, try the keyword density checker, and the readability checker shows how easy your text is to read. For Urdu, use the Urdu word counter.

Lorem Ipsum and when not to use it

Lorem Ipsum is scrambled Latin that designers use to fill a layout before the real words exist. It's fine for a mock-up, but never publish it. Google can index a page full of it, and it tells visitors the site isn't finished. Search your live site for "lorem ipsum" once in a while, since it's easy to miss on a forgotten page.

Yes. Words like well-known count as one, as they do in most word processors.
