AI search optimization

Generative engine optimization that gets your business named in AI answers

When a customer asks ChatGPT, Perplexity or Google for a recommendation, the answer names a handful of businesses. GEO is the work that makes yours one of them, without gaming anything.

Why this option

When it's the right call.

More of your customers start with a question typed into an AI assistant instead of a search box, and the assistant answers with a short list of names. It builds that list from pages it can read, sources that agree with each other and brands it sees mentioned in the right places. If your business is missing from those sources, it is missing from the answer, however well your site ranks. GEO closes that gap. It builds on the SEO foundation you already need, then adds the structure, the evidence and the third-party footprint that AI answers draw on.

  • Customers are asking AI assistants who to hire, and you are not in the answer
  • A competitor with weaker SEO keeps getting recommended instead of you
  • You want to be early to a channel most of your market is ignoring
Who it's for

A good fit if…

  • Businesses whose customers research before they buy: services, B2B, considered purchases
  • Brands already ranking reasonably in Google that want to carry that into AI answers
  • Companies in categories where "best X for Y" questions decide the shortlist
  • Anyone whose site has never had a proper technical review, since AI crawlers trip on the same problems
Probably not, if

Maybe look elsewhere if…

  • You want a guaranteed mention in ChatGPT by next month. Nobody can honestly promise that
  • Your site has basic problems still unfixed. Start with an SEO audit, because GEO builds on top of it
  • Your customers buy on impulse and never research, so AI answers are not where you win them
What you get

What's included.

  • An AI visibility baseline: a fixed set of buyer questions run across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot and Google AI Overviews
  • Crawler access review, so the bots that feed AI answers can reach your pages and are not blocked by accident
  • Key pages restructured so a model can lift a clear, accurate statement from them
  • Entity consistency: the same name, description, services and facts everywhere you appear
  • Third-party footprint: directories, profiles and listings and earned mentions in the sources AI answers lean on
  • Organization, service and product structured data that says plainly who you are and what you do
  • AI referral tracking in GA4, plus a monthly visibility report on the same prompt set
Under the hood

How we actually build it.

The detail that separates a page that ranks and converts from one that just exists.

How AI answers decide who to name

The assistants that answer with live information do not invent their recommendations from nothing. They run searches, read the pages that come back, and compose an answer from what those pages say, then cite some of them. That makes them more like a very fast researcher than an oracle. A researcher trusts claims that several independent sources agree on, prefers pages that state things plainly, and passes over pages it cannot read.

So GEO is less mysterious than it sounds. It is three jobs: make your own pages easy to read and quote, make sure other sources say the same things about you, and make sure nothing technical stops the crawlers getting in. Most of the work is ordinary, careful SEO aimed at a reader that happens to be a machine.

Crawler access: the problem nobody checks

Each AI company runs its own crawlers, and they are not all the same bot. OpenAI separates the crawler used for training from the one that fetches pages for ChatGPT search; Perplexity runs its own; Google's AI Overviews draw on the normal Google index. A robots.txt rule copied from a forum, or a firewall setting your host switched on to block "AI scrapers", can quietly remove you from AI answers while your Google rankings look fine.

We check what each crawler is actually allowed to reach, test that your important pages render without JavaScript tricks that some bots do not run, and then decide with you which bots to allow. Blocking training while allowing search is a reasonable choice, but it should be a choice, not an accident.

Writing pages a model can quote

Pages that get cited tend to open with a direct statement, then support it: who you serve, what you do, what it costs, how long it takes, what makes you different. Vague brochure copy ("solutions tailored to your needs") gives a model nothing it can repeat. Specific, checkable facts give it a sentence it can lift and attribute.

We restructure your key service pages, comparison pages and FAQs so the answer to each likely question sits in a clear sentence near the top, with headings that match how people phrase the question. It reads better for humans too, which is why this rarely costs you anything in Google. Where the question is a short one that Google answers in a snippet, answer engine optimization is the closer fit.

Your footprint beyond your own site

An AI answer that names a business usually names it because several sources it trusts mention it: review platforms, industry directories, comparison articles, press coverage, community threads. Your own site saying you are the best SEO agency in Lahore counts for little. Three independent sources saying it counts for a lot more.

We map which sources the assistants cite for your category, then work on getting you into them properly: complete, consistent profiles, genuine reviews, earned coverage and honest participation where your customers already talk. We do not plant reviews or run fake accounts. Apart from being dishonest, it is the fastest way to get a brand flagged.

Measuring something that changes every time you ask

The same question can get a different answer twice in a row, so a single screenshot of ChatGPT mentioning you proves very little. We measure the way you would measure anything noisy: a fixed set of buyer questions, run repeatedly across each assistant, tracked month on month for how often you are named and cited, and next to whom.

Alongside that we track the traffic AI assistants actually send, in GA4, which shows up as referrals from chatgpt.com, perplexity.ai and similar. Google folds AI Overview impressions into ordinary Search Console figures without a separate filter, so for Google we watch the queries where an Overview appears. It is sampled, and the report says so.

Switching over

Migrating from something else?

An SEO programme that ignores AI search A site that ranks in Google but never appears in AI answers A robots.txt or firewall rule that blocks AI crawlers

Most GEO work starts from an existing SEO programme rather than from scratch. If you already work with us on SEO, GEO is added on top of the same plan and reported in the same monthly report. If your SEO is with someone else, we can run GEO alongside it: we share the prompt set and findings so the two do not pull against each other, and we stay out of the pages they own unless you ask us in.

Avoid these

Common mistakes we don't make.

  • Blocking every AI crawler in robots.txt, including the ones that power AI search, then wondering why the brand never comes up
  • Judging visibility from one screenshot instead of repeated runs of the same questions
  • Writing pages full of adjectives and no facts, which gives a model nothing to quote
  • Describing the business differently on the website, Google Business Profile, LinkedIn and directories, so no source agrees with any other
  • Buying fake reviews or planting forum posts, which AI answers and platforms increasingly discount or remove
  • Treating llms.txt as a fix. It is a proposal with no confirmed use by the major assistants yet. Cheap to add, but not a strategy

Straight talk

When we'd point you elsewhere.

We'd rather lose the sale than sell you the wrong thing.

  • If the questions you need to own are short, factual ones that Google answers in a snippet or a People Also Ask box, answer engine optimization is the more direct route.

    Answer engine optimization (AEO)

  • If your site still has crawl, speed or indexing problems, fix those first. AI crawlers stumble on the same issues Googlebot does.

    Technical SEO

  • If your customers are local and ask for someone nearby, a strong Google Business Profile does more for both Maps and AI answers than anything else.

Questions

Before you get in touch.

What is generative engine optimization (GEO)?

GEO is the work of getting your business named and cited when AI assistants like ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini or Google AI Overviews answer a question. It covers crawler access, how your pages are written, consistent facts about your business across the web, and earning mentions in the sources those assistants rely on.

Is GEO different from SEO?

It builds on SEO rather than replacing it. AI assistants read pages that search engines can find, so a sound SEO foundation comes first. GEO adds the parts SEO usually skips: checking AI crawler access, writing for quotation, and building a consistent footprint beyond your own site.

Can you guarantee ChatGPT will recommend my business?

No, and you should be wary of anyone who does. AI answers vary from one run to the next and depend on sources nobody controls. What we can do is remove the reasons you are left out and measure, over many runs of the same questions, whether you are named more often.

How do you measure results?

We run a fixed set of buyer questions across each assistant every month and track how often you are named and cited, and next to which competitors. We also track referral traffic from AI assistants in GA4. Both are reported monthly, and the report is clear that the visibility figures are sampled.

How long does GEO take to show results?

Fixes like crawler access can change things within weeks, as soon as the assistants re-read your pages. Footprint work, such as reviews, listings and coverage, builds over several months. We show you the baseline first, so you can see the movement against it.

Should I block AI crawlers?

It depends on what you want. Blocking the crawlers used for training is a reasonable choice and does not by itself remove you from AI search. Blocking the crawlers that fetch pages for AI answers usually does. We review what is blocked today and help you make the choice deliberately.
