How to use the domain Age Checker
- Enter a domain, or up to five separated by commas.
- We read each registration date from the registry.
- Compare the ages, oldest first.
Does domain age affect Google rankings?
Not directly. Google has said for years that domain age alone isn't a ranking factor. Older sites often do rank well, but that's because they've had time to collect links, content and reputation. A new site with better content and links can overtake an old one, and an old domain with nothing on it has no advantage.
Good reasons to check a domain's age
- Spotting scams: a shop claiming "20 years in business" on a domain registered last month deserves suspicion.
- Checking a business or supplier before paying them.
- Sizing up competitors, to set realistic SEO expectations.
- Buying a used domain: the age tells you it has a history worth investigating.
What the date means
The date shows the current registration. If a domain lapsed and someone else registered it later, the clock restarts, so a site can be older than its date suggests. Some registries, including .ae and .de, don't publish a creation date, and we'll tell you when that's the case. For the full record use the WHOIS lookup, and to review how a site is doing today, run the website SEO checker.
About the domain Age Checker.
Is an older domain better for SEO?
Not because of age alone. Older sites often rank well because of the links and content they have built up over time, not the date itself.
Why is no date shown for my domain?
Some registries, such as those for .ae and .de, do not publish creation dates. The domain is fine; the date simply isn't public.
Does this work for .pk domains?
Yes. PKNIC publishes the creation date for .pk and .com.pk domains.
Is the age the same as how long the website has existed?
Not always. A domain can be registered years before a website goes live, and a lapsed domain can be re-registered with a new date.
How many domains can I compare?
Up to five at a time. Separate them with commas or spaces.
