What a citation is
A citation is any mention of your business name, address and phone number online: a directory listing, a map app, a social profile, an industry platform. Google uses them to confirm that your business is real and that its details are correct. Consistent citations on trusted sites support your Google Maps rankings; scattered, contradictory ones undermine them.
Quality over quantity
- The core platforms (Google, Bing, Apple Maps, Facebook) do most of the work. Get those perfect first.
- Industry platforms come next: a clinic on Marham and Oladoc, a property agent on Zameen or Bayut, a restaurant on Foodpanda or Talabat. These bring customers directly, not just SEO value.
- General directories help a little, if they're real, active sites. Hundreds of low-quality directories don't.
- Never pay for "500 citations" packages. They're usually spam directories that do nothing, or harm.
How we built this list
Every site here was checked in 2026: it loads, and it's a genuine listing, directory or marketplace used in Pakistan, the UAE or worldwide. Sites that were down or turned out to be something else were left out. Links open the site's own page; we have no affiliation with any of them. What are the most important citation sites in Pakistan?
Google Business Profile first, then Bing Places, Apple Business Connect, Facebook and Truecaller for Business, then industry platforms such as Marham, Oladoc, Zameen and PakWheels.
How many citations does a local business need?
There is no magic number. The core platforms plus the main sites for your industry and country usually matter more than dozens of general directories.
Are paid directory listings worth it?
Rarely for SEO. Pay for a listing only if the site itself sends you customers.
