Google Business Profile category finder.
Your primary category is one of the strongest signals for showing up on Google Maps. Search for your business in plain words, in English or Roman Urdu ("darzi", "property dealer", "kiryana"), and see matching Google categories, with related ones to use as secondary categories.

How to use the Google Business Profile Category Finder
- Type what your business does, in English or Roman Urdu.
- Pick the single category that best describes your main service as your primary category.
- Add a few related categories for other things you genuinely offer.
- In your Business Profile, start typing the category name and choose it from Google's list.
Primary and secondary categories
Your primary category tells Google what your business is, and it has a big influence on which searches you appear for in Maps and the local pack. Choose the most specific category that matches your main service: "Dental clinic" rather than "Medical clinic", "Pakistani restaurant" rather than just "Restaurant".
You can add up to nine secondary categories for other services you genuinely offer. They help with related searches, but don't add categories for things you don't do, or that are only a small sideline. Irrelevant categories can make your profile less clear, not more.
Tips for choosing
- Look at the businesses already in the top three on Maps for your main search. Their primary category is a strong hint.
- Specific beats general, as long as it's accurate.
- If you're both a shop and a service (a mobile shop that also repairs phones), pick the one most customers come for as primary.
- Revisit categories every few months: Google adds new ones, and a better fit may appear.
- Changing your primary category can cause a temporary ranking dip while Google re-evaluates, so don't switch it on a whim.
