Open Graph and Twitter card checker.
See how a page will look when someone shares it on Facebook, LinkedIn, WhatsApp or X, before anyone does. We read the Open Graph and Twitter tags, download the share image to check its size, and show previews for each platform.

How to use the open Graph & Twitter Card Checker
- Enter the address of the page you're going to share.
- We read its tags and download the share image to check its size.
- Look at the previews and the list of missing or weak tags.
- After fixing, ask Facebook and LinkedIn to refresh their cached copy with their own debugger tools.
What Open Graph tags do
When a link is shared, the platform fetches the page and looks for Open Graph tags (og:title, og:description, og:image) to build the preview card. X reads its own twitter: tags first and falls back to Open Graph. WhatsApp, LinkedIn, Slack, Teams and most messaging apps use Open Graph too.
Without these tags, platforms guess. They might show your logo cropped into a square, a random photo from the page, or no image at all, and a link with no picture gets far fewer clicks.
The ideal share image
- 1200 x 630 pixels: the 1.91:1 shape every major platform shows as a large card.
- JPG or PNG, under about 1 MB so it loads quickly in chat apps. WebP works on most platforms but not all.
- Important text and faces in the centre, away from the edges, which some apps crop.
- An absolute https:// URL, not a relative path.
- A different image per page where it matters (blog posts, services), not one logo for everything.
When the preview won't update
Platforms cache previews, sometimes for weeks. After you fix your tags, use the Facebook Sharing Debugger and LinkedIn's Post Inspector to fetch the page again. WhatsApp caches per chat, so test by sharing in a new conversation. X refreshes on its own within about a week.
Our meta tag generator writes the full set of tags for you. If you'd rather it was handled site-wide, it's part of how we set up pages in our digital marketing and web design work.
About the open Graph & Twitter Card Checker.
What size should an Open Graph image be?
1200 x 630 pixels. It shows as a large card on Facebook, LinkedIn, X and WhatsApp.
Why is my old image still showing on Facebook?
Facebook caches previews. Use the Facebook Sharing Debugger and click "Scrape again" to refresh it.
Do I need Twitter card tags as well as Open Graph?
X falls back to Open Graph for the title, description and image, but you need twitter:card set to summary_large_image to get the large image layout.
Why does WhatsApp show no preview?
Usually a missing og:image, an image that is too large, or a page that is slow to respond. WhatsApp also caches previews per chat.
Do Open Graph tags help SEO?
Not directly. They help people click your links on social media and in chats, which brings visits and sometimes links.
You might also need these.
