How to use the hosting Checker & ASN Lookup
- Enter a domain name or an IP address.
- We find the IP, then the network it belongs to.
- If a CDN is detected, remember the real host is hidden behind it.
- Use the nameservers and mail servers as further clues to who runs what.
What the results mean
- Network owner: the company that runs the IP address. It's usually the host, or the data centre your host rents from.
- ASN: the number that identifies that company's network on the internet.
- Country: where the network is registered. The actual server can be somewhere else, especially on large networks.
- CDN: a service such as Cloudflare that sits in front of a website. You see the CDN's address, not the host's.
When the host can't be seen
If a site uses Cloudflare or another CDN or firewall, the real host is deliberately hidden, and no outside tool can reliably reveal it. A smaller hosting brand may also rent space on a bigger company's network, so the owner shown might be its data centre rather than the company you pay. The nameservers can give a further clue, since many hosts use their own.
Does hosting location affect SEO?
Server location matters mainly through speed. A server far from your visitors can make pages slower, and a CDN can reduce that gap. Run the website speed test to see how it responds. Before moving host, check the DNS records so that your email keeps working, and read about our website migration service if you'd like it done for you.
About the hosting Checker & ASN Lookup.
Why does it say Cloudflare instead of my host?
Cloudflare sits in front of the website, so the public address belongs to Cloudflare. The real host is hidden on purpose, for protection and speed.
What is an ASN?
An Autonomous System Number identifies a network run by one organisation, such as a hosting company, on the internet.
The owner shown isn't the company I pay. Why?
Many hosting brands rent servers in another company's data centre, so the network belongs to that company.
Can I look up an IP address?
Yes. Enter any public IPv4 or IPv6 address to see its network and ASN.
Where does the network data come from?
From public internet routing records, through the free IP to ASN service run by Team Cymru.
